美濃戸山荘. Here the gravel road ends and the trail begins
There was a little bit of water from the river that we had to cross but it wasn't to much yet.

We took a short break at 中ノ行者小屋跡.
The rocky river bed here gives a nice variety in the scenery.
The clouds covered the mountains but the trees were twice as green as on a clear day.

行者小屋 was pretty busy today. Many climbers said they had already finished their climb up to 赤岳.

No view of the peaks today but we were excited to climb them anyway.

The 地蔵の頭 route was well maintained with many stairs to help climbers.

This would be a great place to view the 八ヶ岳 mountains but today was only clouds.

This is where the chains begin. I recommend bringing gloves to climb. The chains are slippery and dirty.

Made it! Now on to 赤岳. No rain...yet. But that changed quickly. We used ALL of our rain gear after this.

We all look happy but we were very wet and couldn't enjoy our ramen lunch because it was too windy and rainy. I was happy to finally make it to the top of 赤岳。

At 赤岳頂上山荘 we were able to see a little bit of a view...but only for one or two seconds!

The clouds came in and the rain began again.
A view! We could finally see 行者小屋！ It was a limited view but we were very happy to see something after a rainy summit.

Lunch! We made it safely back to 行者小屋.
The traditional Japanese mountain lunch: ramen, cup ramen, coffee, and some sweets! We were very wet but happy to take a short rest.
